Tennessee saw just how important Mariota is to the team in Sunday’s loss. Mariota did struggle, going 6-for-10 for 96 yards with two interceptions. But he did lead the team to two first half touchdowns. With Matt Cassel replacing the injured Mariota at halftime, a 30-14 deficit turned into a 57-14 blowout loss. Cassel was 4-for-10 with only 21 yards passing and two picks.
Titans coach Mike Mularkey added that he will be cautious with his franchise quarterback. Cameron Wolfe of ESPN noted that Cassel will get first team reps on Wednesday.
