Leonard Fournette still not practicing Friday ahead of Week 7

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back Leonard Fournette

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette, who tweaked his ankle last Sunday, has missed every practice this week leading up to Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.

According to Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union, Fournette once again was not able to practice Friday and has officially been listed as questionable for Sunday’s game.

Per O’Halloran, head coach Doug Marrone called Fournette’s availability Sunday “a simple process.”

“The process goes this way: The doctor has the ability to clear or not clear players; the first thing is the doctor has to clear the player,” Marrone said. “The next thing is the player. Once he knows he’s cleared, it’s up to him whether he’s going to play or not. The next thing are the coaches and they say, ‘Hey, if we put him in there, is he good enough to [meet] our expectations?’”

The Jaguars have leaned heavily on the rookie running back this year. He entered Week 7 as the league’s second-ranked rusher, piling up 596 yards and six touchdowns (leading the league). In particular, Fournette’s ability to make big gains late in games has been a boon to Jacksonville (watch here).

If Fournette is unable to play Sunday, then Chris Ivory will certainly see his role increase.
