Report: Jets looking to trade ‘several’ veteran players

Matt Forte

The tank game is on in New Jersey. After spending the entire spring and summer ridding themselves of veteran talent, it looks like the New York Jets are not done. According to this one report, the Jets are making a “heavy push” to trade several veteran players, running back Matt Forte and defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson included.

It’s not a surprise that both Forte and Richardson are up on the chopping block. Just recently, other reports suggested that the Jets were attempting to trade Forte. In terms of Richardson, rumors have persisted since last season that the team was looking to move him.

Pure conjecture here, but it seems to make sense that offensive linemen Kelvin Beachum and James Carpenter as well as defensive back Buster Skrine would also be on the trade block in New Jersey.

The Jets have decided to go into full-scale rebuild mode, and the 2017 season will likely be defined by the team tanking in a big way. Any capital they can get for players that don’t fit into the long-term plans of the organization seems to be in the Jets’ best interest at this point.
