Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Michael Floyd is on thin ice with head coach Mike Zimmer.
He reportedly failed three Breathalyzer tests in June that were related to him drinking kombucha tea. Does Zimmer buy the tea story? This is what he had to say.
“Do I believe it? I don’t know how much tea he drank. I have no clue,” Zimmer said via Brian Murphy of The Pioneer Press. “I don’t have any doubt why there’d be skepticism, but he told me that he wasn’t (drinking). That it was legit.”
Zimmer continued.
“I said, ‘If I find out you’re lying to me, I’m going to cut you.”
Floyd served one day in jail on June 28 and finished the remainder of his house arrest stemming back to his February DUI conviction.
The 27-year-old receiver is on course to begin training camp with his team starting July 26. Although, it was recently speculated by a Vikings beat writer that Floyd could start the 2017 NFL season on suspension. Should this become the case, it could further murky the waters between Floyd and Zimmer.
The best thing Floyd can do is stay out of trouble and perform his best in training camp. Zimmer is clearly exercising a zero-tolerance stance when it comes to Floyd.
