Report: LSU’s Jamal Adams ‘very much in play’ at No. 2 overall for 49ers

Jamal Adams

The San Francisco 49ers certainly have options with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. According to one report safety Jamal Adams could be their guy.

Adams has been lauded highly by the majority of NFL draft writers since the combine, when he not only exhibited outstanding physical traits but also emerged as the most vocal and pro-ready leader among all defensive back prospects.

Certainly, those traits would be attractive to new 49ers general manager John Lynch, who himself utilized the exact same formula to become one of the most feared defenders in the NFL.

Adams was one of the best all-around safeties in the nation during his time at LSU. In his three seasons playing for the Tigers, he racked up 209 total tackles, 18 for a loss, two sacks, five interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Of course, the 49ers have also been heavily linked to quarterback Mitch Trubisky and running back Leonard Fournette. There could be some fire behind this smoke, but at this time of year we have absolutely no idea what to expect until the names start falling off the board during the draft.
