It’s now almost a foregone conclusion that John Fox is on his way out in Chicago. There were rumors circulating following the 2016 season that Fox himself might be out of a job as the team’s head coach.
Now comes this report from Chris Mortensen of ESPN indicating that Fox himself was kept in the dark relating to Chicago’s plans to move up for Mitch Trubisky in the first round of the draft Thursday night.
Wow. Per @mortreport, even @ChicagoBears coach John Fox didn’t know about plan to draft QB Mitchell Trubisky until a couple hours before.

That’s some disturbing news right there. Teams want their head coach and general manager to work lock-step with one another. If Fox was kept out of the loop here, it’s a clear indication that he and GM Ryan Pace are not on the same page.
Chicago received a ton of criticism for moving up just one spot in the top five with San Francisco to acquire the North Carolina product. In the process, Pace and Co. yielded two third-round picks and a fourth-round pick. It led to both the 49ers and Minnesota Vikings to troll the Bears on social media.
While we have no idea whether Trubisky will pan out, it seems rather clear that Fox might not be around to see it through. This report magnified that even more.
