Noah Syndergaard, with ‘possible lat strain,’ headed back to New York for MRI

The New York Mets officially announced an updated status on starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard.

According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, the team said Thor has a “possible lat strain” and is heading back to New York City for an MRI.

DiComo also tweeted earlier Syndergaard “refused to undergo an MRI on his arm because he felt fine.”

ā€œI knew there was nothing happening in there,” he explained.

The 2016 All-Star grabbed his lat as he headed out to the mound, but the team let him continue his outing. He allowed five runs in the first inning, but that was only the beginning. He grabbed under his arm in pain after he threw to Bryce Harper. Then, the team pulled him due to anĀ apparent injury.

Refusing the original MRI and going out to pitch could change the overall health of Syndergaard. We will make sure to follow the story and update information once news comes in.
