Oh boy, here we go. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, an NFL executive believes there is momentum building for a quarterback — not consensus top player in the 2017 NFL Draft, Myles Garrett — to be selected at the top of the draft.
Just had an NFL exec tell me, "Don't be surprised if Myles Garrett isn't the No. 1 pick." Exec convinced a QB is in discussion at No. 1.

Now, it’s understandable that teams needing a quarterback will feel the urge to reach for one. Franchises just don’t win championships without them. But there is no John Elway. There’s no Peyton Manning. No Cam Newton in this year’s draft.
The top quarterbacks in 2017 all need seasoning and would do well to sit behind another veteran for a year or two. Even then, there’s no guarantee they’ll pan out, though that’s certainly the case every year with every quarterback. But the fact remains that this year’s quarterback class is relatively weak, to the point where a guy like Davis Webb is being told he’s a first-rounder.
Garrett should be the No. 1 pick. He’s, by far, the best player in the draft — something Von Miller made quite clear on Tuesday. Everyone knows this. Yet don’t be surprised if he doesn’t end up being selected No. 1. Teams are going to get antsy, and all it takes is one team that is overly desperate to do something foolish.
Whether it’s the Cleveland Browns or another team at the top via trade, a quarterback very well could be selected No. 1.
Cleveland has not made up its mind at No. 1, per source. Split opinions. Some like Myles Garrett, some like Mitchell Trubisky. We will see.
