The defending champion New England Patriots remain extremely active just over a month removed from hoisting the Lombardi. On the trade front, New England has acquired tight end Dwayne Allen, wide receiver Brandin Cooks and defensive end Kony Ealy.

New England has also signed former Buffalo Bills first-round pick Stephon Gilmore to a long-term contract worth $40 million guaranteed, forming a tremendous one-two-punch at corner with Malcolm Butler.

Looking to add depth to the team’s defensive line, New England has now reportedly signed former Baltimore Ravens defensive end Lawrence Guy to a four-year contract worth up to $20 million.

Guy, a seventh-round pick of the Packers back in 2011, jumped around the league as nothing more than a depth option before catching on with the Ravens back in 2014. Since then, he became a valuable contributor on one of the best defensive lines in football.

This past season saw the 26-year-old Arizona State product record 28 tackles and a sack in 16 games (10 starts). This came after a 2015 campaign in which he recorded 4.5 sacks for Baltimore.

It’s not a sexy move by any stretch of the imagination, but the Patriots continue to build up their front seven after losing the likes of Jabaal Sheard, Chris Long and Barkevious Mingo from last season’s Super Bowl winning squad.
