Former Washington Huskies wide receiver John Ross broke the 40-yard dash record at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Saturday. The speedster put up a 4.22 time, beating out Chris Johnson’s mark of 4.24 from nine years earlier.
Unfortunately for Ross, he doesn’t get an island to call his own after breaking said record. Remember, Adidas offered up a private island to any prospect that broke the 40-yard dash record while wearing the company’s gear. Ross was wearing Nike.
So when asked why he decided not to put on Adidas gear in an attempt to win his own island, Ross had himself a pretty darn awesome response.

Just imagine being stuck on an island while not being able to swim too well. That wouldn’t be good for anyone involved. At the very least, Ross knows his limitations. The receiver will leave his awe-inspiring athletic ability to the land beneath his feet. That’s probably a splendid idea in and of itself.
