Coming off two consecutive Pro Bowl seasons that saw him put up a grand total of 3,175 yards and 27 touchdowns, it looks like Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman wants to get paid.
A couple problems with this. Freeman still has one year remaining on his rookie contract. Atlanta also appears to be cap strapped at the moment after signing Matt Schaub and Desmond Trufant to long-term contracts on Wednesday.
Unfortunately for the Falcons, it looks like Freeman’s camp is not necessarily too happy with these latest developments.
Matt Schaub 9 mil Trufant 14 mil no money left for Freeman looking like a Trade to me. https://t.co/JL5DgIbHg6

That’s Luther R. Campbell, the husband of Freeman’s agent and an important member of the running back’s camp.
Freeman is represented by Kristin Campbell from 40 Sports Entertainment. Remember, she made news prior to the Super Bowl by indicating that her client was not happy with the contract he’s currently playing under (more on that here).
As it relates to Kristin’s significant other, better known as Uncle Luke, he’s a former band member for 2 Live Crew and is a big-time player in the music industry. In talking about his friend’s unhappiness with his contract, Campbell had this to say.
you really would do that to a two-time pro bowler pay him 600 k he's a great baseball player

While stopping short of saying that Campbell is speaking for his wife or her client, this leads us to believe that Freeman himself is unhappy with his current contract situation. It will surely be interesting to see what comes of this.
But like pretty much every player available around the NFL, it wouldn’t be a surprise to hear Freeman’s name mentioned as a possibility for the San Francisco 49ers. Remember, his two-best seasons came under current 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan. That will surely lead to suggestions that something could be up here.
