Could Alshon Jeffery be headed to the Tennessee Titans? How about DeSean Jackson or Pierre Garcon? While we don’t know who the Titans will try to land, word is the team is willing to break the bank to land elite talent to play with young quarterback Marcus Mariota.
Appearing on Good Morning Football, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo said the Titans will “make a push to bring in some receiver help.”
“Via the draft, via free agency, and they are prepared to spend,” Garafolo said. “They have made it clear that they are prepared to spend. They are going to be very active this offseason — draft and free agency — and they’re looking for wide receiver help.”
There are some top receivers in the draft that Tennesee could certainly benefit from landing, and thanks to their trade with the Los Angeles Rams last year, they have the No. 5 overall pick. With that pick, they could potentially target Mike Williams out of Clemson or John Ross out of Washington. Or, the Titans could wait until they pick at No. 18, and it’s feasible Ross could still be there waiting.
Additionally, as mentioned above, Jeffery, Jackson, Garcon or even the likes of Victor Cruz or a reunion with Kenny Britt could be on the table.
This strategy, to target receivers, is exactly what Tennessee needs to do right now. Offensively, it’s the only thing this team lacks to rise up to the next level. The offensive line and running back groups are elite, and Mariota is ascending at a rapid pace.
It’s going to be interesting to see what happens when free agency opens on March 9, though we’re sure rumors will break before then to give us a clue about what will go down.
