Nick Mangold, a seven-time Pro Bowler and two-time First-Team All-Pro, announced he will no longer be a member of the New York Jets. This ends an 11-year run he had with the Jets, who selected him in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft.

Mangold started 164 games for the Jets throughout his 11-year run with the franchise. He’s not retiring at this time and should have plenty of offers from teams in need of a short-term boost at one of the most important positions on offense.
His 2016 season was cut short by an ankle injury that eventually landed him on IR (more on that here).
Mangold was entering the final year of his contract with New York and was set to earn over $9 million, with no dead cap hit. This means the Jets will have the same amount added back to their 2017 cap figure.
The Jets are clearly in rebuild mode at this time without a solid quarterback situation. They also have a few other big-time players that could be released, including receiver Brandon Marshall and cornerback Darrelle Revis.
