On the heels of losing offensive coordinator Sean McVay to the Los Angeles Rams, the Washington Redskins could very well be adding another high-profile assistant to the mix.
The #Redskins are interviewing Wade Phillips for DC tomorrow in Ashburn. More on @nbcwashington in a few mins.

Wade Phillips is currently a free agent after his two-year contract with the Denver Broncos expired following the 2016 regular season. With three-plus decades of NFL coaching experience, the highly-respected assistant could very well be what the Redskins need after they fired former defensive coordinator Joe Barry earlier in January (more on that here).
Head coach Jay Gruden is an offensive mind. So it stands to reason that he can offset the loss of McVay as the coordinator on that side of the ball.
Unfortunately for the Redskins, they struggled big time on the defensive side of the ball during the 2016 season, finishing in the bottom 10 in total yards and passing yards allowed.
If the Skins are able to land Phillips, it would be a major upgrade over Barry. His hybrid defensive scheme would also fit what Washington likes to do in the front seven with their current personnel.
