The Cincinnati Bengals got some good news Monday as it relates to their best player, A.J. Green, who was feared to be lost for the season.
Rather than the initial fear, which is that he suffered a hamstring tear, the Bengals now believe Green could be out just a few weeks with a strain, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.
#Bengals got some good news on WR AJ Green. Source says he’s probably out a few weeks. No surgery. Calling it a strain (small tear).

Already dealing with an extreme lack of talent at the receiver position, Green’s injury will make eking out a playoff appearance extremely difficult. However, if the Bengals (now 3-6-1) can somehow rise to the top of the mediocre AFC North with some strong play to close out the season, getting Green back for the final games and playoffs would be huge.
Of course, the Bengals would be wise not to rush Green back from this injury. Hamstrings are notoriously hard to recover from, and it was clear when Green went down that he wasn’t dealing with a minor issue.
On the season, the wideout has racked up 66 passes for 964 yards and four touchdowns, with 15 catches going over 20 yards.
