Redskins RB Robert Kelley: ‘I know nobody here likes the Dallas Cowgirls’

The Washington Redskins will face their toughest test of the season Thanksgiving afternoon in Dallas against the red-hot Cowboys. Dallas has won nine consecutive games and boasts the best record in the NFL.

But don’t expect the Redskins to sit back and let the Cowboys run all over them. Washington has been pretty hot in its own right, having lost once since mid September.

Whether he’s cocky or just plain doesn’t care, Redskins rookie running back Robert Kelley potentially added some bulletin board material for the Cowboys in the lead up to this important holiday matchup.

“I know nobody here likes the Dallas Cowgirls.”

Kelley, an un-drafted rookie free agent from Tulane, did not play in the Redskins’ first game with Dallas back in Week 2. So this will be his first opportunity to do his talking on the field.

And in reality, Kelley’s own performance might back up any trash-talking he decides to continue doing between now and Thursday afternoon. One of the biggest surprises thus far this season, Kelley has dominated since taking over the Redskins’ primary ball-carrier duties from Matt Jones.

Over the past three games, the youngster has put up 321 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Heck, he’s coming off a three-score performance in Washington’s blowout win over the Green Bay Packers this past Sunday night.

Even then, one has to wonder what the Cowboys’ reaction might be to hearing the term “Cowgirl” thrown their way. It’s an insult as old as this 40-year rivalry. It also likely won’t be taken with a grain of salt.

The heck with the holiday festivities, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Sean Lee or another Cowboys defender look to lay Kelley out early on Thanksgiving.
