Percy Harvin comes out of retirement, signs with the Bills

Percy Harvin

Former Minnesota Vikings first-round pick Percy Harvin last played in a NFL game over a calendar year ago. He retired from the game after suffering through seven injury-plagued and contentious seasons with four different teams.

Now, pretty much out of the blue, Harvin has apparently decided to return to the game and has signed with the Bufffalo Bills for the remainder of the season.

It’s somewhat of a surprising development for both Harvin and the Bills. He played five games with Buffalo last season before having to sit for the remainder of the year due to yet another injury issue. Over the course of the past four years, Harvin has missed 36 of a possible 64 games.

Though, in the five games Harvin did play for the Bills last season, he showed some of the promise that made him a Pro Bowler with the Vikings back in 2009. He recorded 19 receptions for 218 yards and a score during that span.

Harvin might be best known for issues he had with the Vikings, issues that forced him to be traded to the Seattle Seahawks prior to the 2013 season. Then in Seattle, these issues came up once again. He lasted less than two years with in the Pacific Northwest prior to being traded to the New York Jets.

It remains to be seen just how much of an impact Harvin will have on the field for the Bills this season, but they need all the help they can get at wide receiver with Sammy Watkins still sidelined.
