John Fox: Jay Cutler injury is ‘not season-ending’

Jay Cutler

Those of you who were hoping Jay Cutler’s last game with the Chicago Bears was last week will be sorely disappointed by Wednesday’s news.

Bears head coach John Fox indicated that Cutler’s shoulder injury is not season-ending in a press conference with reporters.

It had been reportedly earlier in the week that Cutler was believed to have a torn labrum in the shoulder, which would have ended his season. Obviously, that doesn’t seem to be the case any longer.

At 2-8 on the season, Chicago is simply looking to play out the string. And as it relates to Cutler, he’s as good as gone following the season. Wins and losses mean very little for the Bears from here on out, as the team looks to collect the highest possible pick to potentially select Cutler’s successor in the 2017 NFL Draft.

But as bad as Cutler has been this season, Bears fans can now rest easy that they likely won’t have to see Matt Barkley under center for the duration of the season.

The glass is always half full, ladies and gents.
