Earl Thomas out Sunday, breaking streak of 106 consecutive games played

Earl Thomas

Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas has been one of the NFL’s iron men since entering the league in 2010 as a first-round pick out of Texas. After suffering a hamstring injury last week, Thomas will sit out Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, breaking a 106-game streak.

Earlier in the week, head coach Pete Carroll revealed his star safety was dealing with a first-degree hamstring injury and could miss a couple games as a result.

Thomas has racked up 46 tackles and two interceptions this year.

He’s an invaluable player on the back end for Seattle’s Legion of Boom defense and will be missed. Thankfully the Seahawks recently got Kam Chancellor back from an injury and feature an outstanding group of defensive secondary players, not to mention some of the best coaches in the business.

With that in mind, we fully expect the Seahawks to play well Sunday in Tampa Bay, even without Thomas’ contributions.
