Josh Norman, in concussion protocol, to visit independent neurologist this week

The Washington Redskins lost Josh Norman in the second half of Sunday’s game after he took a blow to the head. He is officially in the NFL’s concussion protocol and will be visiting an independent neurologist to further discuss his health, Jay Gruden announced Monday.

At this point, Norman’s availability for the team’s upcoming trip to London is in question.

The Redskins lost in brutal fashion Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Matthew Stafford led a 75-yard drive in the final minute of the contest that concluded with a strike to veteran Anquan Boldin in the end zone to give the Lions a 20-17 win (watch here).

There are no excuses in football, but it’s worth pointing out that Washington was without both Norman and fellow starter Bashaud Breeland (ankle) on that final drive.

Now at 4-3 on the season, Washington is preparing to take on the Cincinnati Bengals — a team with a red-hot A.J. Green — Sunday at Wembley Stadium in London. Needless to say, getting Norman back would help tremendously.
