Arian Foster among four Dolphins to take a knee during anthem

Most of the talk leading up to Sunday’s kickoff to the NFL season surrounded the Seattle Seahawks and what they were going to do during the national anthem.

Seahawks receiver Doug Baldwin had indicated that the team was going to interlock hands while standing. It was supposed to be a sign of unity and respect for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

However, the news we saw come from Seattle Sunday afternoon had nothing to do with the home team.

In fact, it’s all about the visiting Miami Dolphins. According to media reports, multiple members of the road team decided to take a knee for the anthem as a sign of solidarity with Kaepernick and his fight against oppression in the United States.

This comes on the same day as the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, something that will likely create even more division within the context of a controversy that’s already led to divisiveness.

We also now know who took part in refusing to stand for the anthem. Among them, new Dolphins running back Arian Foster.

It should be interesting to see how this is going to be received moving forward. Though, something tells us there’s not going to be a clear consensus on it, especially on the anniversary of 9/11.
