San Diego Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen injured his knee on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs and had to be carted off the field.

The injury was not a result of contact, indicating a potential ligament injury.

And watching the play, it seems clear the knee just buckled under the stress of his cut.

This is devastating news for the Chargers.
Allen was already having a spectacular game, having caught six passes for 63 yards against a very good Chiefs defense. He has been a consistent producer in San Diego’s offense when healthy, with 215 catches for 2,554 yards and 16 touchdowns in his first three seasons.
If Allen ends up missing significant time, the Chargers will be hard pressed to replace his productivity.
