Josh McCown gives emotional response to question of why he kept playing Sunday

Cleveland Browns quarterback Josh McCown might be out for a while with an “excruciating” shoulder injury, but he played through the pain Sunday.

An MRI is scheduled for Tuesday, and the Browns are reportedly bracing for bad news.

So why in the world did McCown put himself back in the game in Week 2?

He answered that question on Monday, and you might want to have some tissue nearby.

McCown took many more hits after he returned to the field of play. A lesser man might have been inclined to avoid such punishment, but the veteran endured it without remorse.

With Robert Griffin III already in injured reserve and possibly out for the entire year, Cleveland will have just rookie Cody Kessler if McCown cannot play.

It would truly be a shame if McCown ends up missing significant time with this shoulder injury.

The Browns are already in an 0-2 hole to open the season. And while McCown hasn’t posted a winning record in a few years, his leadership and grit are invaluable to the franchise at this time.
