Report: Browns ‘bracing for possible bad news on Josh McCown’s shoulder’

Josh McCown

The Cleveland Browns lost Robert Griffin III potentially for the entire season in Week 1. His replacement, Josh McCown, was injured in Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens, and the team is reportedly bracing for some bad news regarding his status.

McCown was blasted early in the game. He ended up taking a trip to the locker room (likely for a pain-killing shot) but made his way back onto the field and completed the game Sunday against the Ravens.

The scrappy veteran finished with 260 yards on 20-of-33 passing with two touchdowns and two interceptions in a losing cause.

If he is unable to play in Week 3, then Cody Kessler will be pressed into duty.

Already in an early 0-2 hole to start the season, looking at a scenario where their top two passers might be out indefinitely, the Browns are in deep trouble.

The quarterback market is almost completely barren. One wonders if this scenario might sway head coach Hue Jackson to re-think his position about not trading for a quarterback this year. And if so, could Colin Kaepernick be a viable solution?

Stay tuned. Things could get very interesting.
