Report: Josh Norman lands gig with Fox as NFL analyst

Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman is already known for his gift of gab, which he’ll soon be bringing to a television near you as an NFL analyst for Fox.

The MMQB is reporting Norman has landed a one-year deal with the media giant to appear in no less than 10 shows. He’ll make his debut during Week 1 and will appear on Fox NFL Kickoff, which starts at 11 a.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 11.

Norman is following in the footsteps of New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who has been making appearances in a similar capacity for Showtime’s Inside the NFL since 2014.

Not surprisingly, he does not think it will have any impact on his on-field performance.

“I haven’t told Coach [Jay] Gruden or [defensive coordinator Joe] Barry yet, but I’ll give them a nice shout out on TV,” Norman says. “It’s not at all going to be a distraction. If you keep your focus on you and not anybody else, you’re going to be fine. I’m going to be me on Sunday.”

The MMQB reports Norman will appear in pre-taped clips, live appearances from his home and stadium and potentially some live work after games.

“I have a good personality,” Norman says. “Talking in that space… I’m not sure if that’s what I’ll do after my career, but I like exploring it now. It’s nice that I’m able to get my truth out there.”

The interesting question that has yet to be answered is what Norman will do if he and/or his team struggles and he still has to appear on television. What kind of attitude will he present? This question was posed to him during the feeling-out process with Fox, and he believes he’s up to the challenge.

Since breaking out with his outstanding effort last year, Norman has been a front-and-center player for the NFL. He is adept at getting under the skin of his fellow competitors (watch here) and is charismatic on camera. It’s going to be fascinating to watch him tackle this new challenge.
