Jimmy Graham

While Seattle Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham is progressing nicely in his rehab, coach Pete Carroll doesn’t know if he’ll be ready by the start of the season.

“There’s some evaluation to be done going into next week, but I don’t have any expectations for that right now. We’ll just wait and see,” Carroll said, via Sheil Kapadia of ESPN. “We don’t have a timetable for this that he has to meet any schedule at all. We’re just working him back, and he’s gaining confidence, and it’s really important not to have any setbacks. So we’re being careful.”

Though Carroll doesn’t know when Graham will return, he also said that the tight end is continuing to progress.

Graham is recovering from a knee injury suffered in November that prematurely ended his 2015 season. He began training camp on the PUP list and has not yet begun to participate in team drills.

In his first year with Seattle, Graham caught 48 passes for 605 yards and two touchdowns in 11 games. He never really got into the flow of the offense.

After spending a year with Russell Wilson and the Seahawks, a healthy Graham figures to be a bigger part of the Seahawks’ offense in 2016, if he can stay healthy.

It’s not surprising he’s being brought along slowly. As we passed along a while back, Graham’s injury is particularly difficult to overcome (more on that here).

Seattle opens its 2016 schedule at home against the Miami Dolphins.
