Adam Gase: Arian Foster ‘annihilated’ conditioning test

Attempting to take the NFL by storm once again after an Achilles injury sidelined him last season, Arian Foster impressed Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase on Sunday by dominating his conditioning test.

“Gase said Foster is ‘ready to go‘ after he ‘annihilated’ his conditioning test,” writes Austin Knoblauch of NFL.com.

This is fantastic news for Dolphins fans as well as those in fantasy football circles.

One of the NFL’s most dynamic all-around running backs when healthy, Foster has missed 23 games the past three seasons due to injuries. He tore his Achilles tendon after just four games last year, and the Houston Texans released him this past offseason as a result of his inability to stay healthy. Well, that, and his looming $6.5 million cap hit.

Now with a fresh start in South Florida, Foster has a chance to become an NFL star once again. The team has been high on second-year back Jay Ajayi, but already he’s had to miss practice with a knee injury and was spotted with that leg wrapped on Monday.

Normally, this wouldn’t be a cause for alarm, but with Ajayi it surely is. He hurt his right knee in college, and there were concerns about the cartilage in his knees coming out of Boise State.

Gase has already been open about his affection for Foster’s game (more on that here).

If the veteran running back (who will turn 30 this season) still has the smooth explosion that made him one of the league’s best in Houston, then he could become a powerhouse for Miami’s offense this year, especially if Ajayi cannot stay healthy.

That’s good news for the Dolphins, and it’s something that should delight fantasy football owners across the nation.
