WATCH: Jonathan Williams pleads with officer during DUI arrest

For some reason, Buffalo Bills running backs have the knack for finding themselves in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Earlier in July, rookie running back Jonathan Williams was arrested for a DUI.

Now comes this interesting footage of the night Williams was arrested.

Williams actually had the nerve to beg the arresting officer to cut him some slack due to his professional situation.

“I just got drafted,” Williams told the officer, via TMZ sports. “I’m really not trying to be in any type of trouble.”

Clearly, the authorities were not amused or impressed by Williams’ NFL status.

Williams was arrested in Arkansas by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department on July 14. Per the report, Williams had been swerving his car in and out of traffic and failed a variety of sobriety tests after being pulled over.

Williams also tried to plead that he was driving because the woman who was in the car with him was “way” more drunk than him. Way to go with that one.

Williams will reportedly be in court to have his case heard in August.

The Bills selected Williams in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Unfortunately, his current state of affairs does nothing to help the Bills who recently found out they will be without second-year back Karlos Williams for four weeks. Williams faces a league-mandated suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
