Report: Anquan Boldin signs one-year deal with Detroit Lions

Veteran wide receiver Anquan Boldin’s time as a free agent has come to an end. According to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Boldin signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions.

The 35 year-old receiver had been overal productive during his past three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. During that stretch of time, Boldin tallied 3,030 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns.

His production declined some in 2015, but that was clearly tied to the 49ers woes at the quarterback position.

Boldin will now find himself catching passes from quarterback Matthew Stafford in combination with No. 1 and 2 receivers Golden Tate and Marvin Jones.

Boldin was an original second-round pick by the Arizona Cardinals and played with them from 2003-2009. He then signed on with the Baltimore Ravens from 2010-2012 and is a one-time Super Bowl champion.

Not likely poised to fill the shoes of the retired Calvin Johnson, Boldin should still make a significant contribution to the Lions offense.
