Antonio Brown wants people to keep all their fingers on 4th of July

Antonio Brown

Antonio Brown sent out a 4th of July message to his Twitter followers on Monday imploring everyone to keep their fingers intact on this holiday.

This is clearly in reference to Jason Pierre-Paul’s harrowing accident last year when he lost half the fingers on his right hand due to a firework going off while he held it.

And while Brown isn’t calling out his Pittsburgh Steelers teammates specifically, it seems clear he is calling them out, respectfully. He doesn’t want to lose any of them this season to a similar accident.

Pierre-Paul’s accident highlighted the danger of handling big firecrackers and fireworks that are either illegal or best left to the professionals. He’s not the only one to lose digits, but he was the first sports star to be impacted in this way. Every year, people suffer similar injuries, or worse.

So let’s all take Brown’s message to heart. By all means, take your kids out to see the big booming fireworks at your local park or larger venue, if that’s your scene. Buy the safe kits being sold in grocery store parking lots. Have fun, but be safe.
