Dodgers place Clayton Kershaw on 15-day DL

Clayton Kershaw is among the best pitchers in the game. Can he pull it together for the NLCS?

The struggling Los Angeles Dodgers are now going to be without one of the best players in the game for at least the next two weeks.

Los Angeles placed three-time Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday after he received an epidural for lower back pain.

Kershaw entered Thursday’s action having put up historical numbers thus far this season. He boasts an 11-2 record with a 1.79 ERA and 0.73 WHIP in 16 starts. The ace also possesses a ridiculous strikeout-to-walk ratio of 16.1-1.

How big of a loss is this for the Dodgers? Currently six games behind the San Francisco Giants in the National League West, they own a 14-2 record when Kershaw starts. On the other hand, the Dodgers are 29-35 when he’s not on the bump.

With losses in four of their past six games after winning six in a row, the Dodgers will now face at least the next two weeks without their best player. That’s definitely going to hurt.
