Minnesota Vikings All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson proved naysayers wrong when he returned in 2015 from a year-long suspension. He led the league with 1,485 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns at the age of 30.

This season, the sky could be the limit for AP who claims he is in even better physical shape than he was last season. Peterson turned 31 in March for those wondering.

When asked by Chris Tomasson of The St. Paul Pioneer Press, if he is in the best shape of his life, Peterson said “I would say that.”

In addition to adding to his 11,675 total rushing yards and 97 touchdowns compiled over his nine seasons with the Vikings, Peterson has committed to improving his receiving skills according to Matt Vensel of Star Tribune. He also wants to work on running the ball from the “shotgun formation” according the report.

“The biggest thing is me just being more patient and that’s something that you [get by going] through practice reps. That’s something that I was more conscious of last year and that’ll be an easier transition for me.”

Previously, Peterson has averaged just 26.4 receptions per season, which equates to only one or two catches per game.

Involving Peterson more in the passing game would give quarterback Teddy Bridgewater another much-needed asset. The Vikings finished the 2015 season with the 31st-ranked passing offense and only 14 scores being made through the air.

When it comes to Peterson’s physical condition, it’s hard to believe he can top this.

Though, once Peterson puts his mind to a goal, it usually pans out. Fans can likely take Peterson’s promise to aid in the Vikings’ ailing passing game to the bank this fall, unless his hands remain made of stone.
