Ezekiel Elliott to meet with the Cowboys this weekend

Ezekiel Elliott

Holding the No. 4 overall pick in this month’s draft and on the heels of signing former Washington Redskins running back Alfred Morris, it appears that the Dallas Cowboys are not done checking in on this position.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Dallas will meet with former Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott at their facility on Sunday:

Teams are allowed up to 30 pre-draft visits each year. And while Elliott is the consensus top running back in the class, it’s highly unlikely Dallas would exhaust a top-five pick on him.

This is more than likely the Cowboys simply doing their homework on the talented young running back should they decide to trade down from the fourth spot or Elliott himself drops to the second round come draft time.

With Darren McFadden and Morris on board, running back isn’t necessarily a huge need for the Cowboys. Though, a player of Elliott’s ilk only comes down the pike every once in a while.

We all know how much Cowboys owner Jerry Jones likes to make a splash. We also must note that the team has done a good job making the right pick instead of the sexy one.

In this, any possibility that Dallas passes up on a position of need to nab Elliott at four has to be considered far-fetched.
