Former NFL running back and current Philadelphia Eagles running backs coach Duce Staley has reportedly interviewed for the team’s now-vacant head coaching job, according to ESPN’s Ed Werder.

This is a curious choice, as Staley has only been coaching for five years and has never come close to this level of responsibility. He was the team’s special-teams/quality control coach from 2011-12 and then was promoted to the running backs coaching spot in 2013.
Even more curious is the fact that running back DeMarco Murray reportedly questioned Staley during his now-famous conversation with owner Jeff Lurie on the team plane a few weeks back.

Of course, one thing to consider is that interviewing Staley could have been done simply to satisfy the Rooney Rule.
One thing is certain: Things are going to be very interesting the next few months in Philly.
