In need of a paycheck, former St. Louis Rams defensive end Michael Sam has reportedly agreed to compete in the next season of ABC’s hit reality show Dancing with the Stars.
It’s an interesting move for Sam, who has indicated that he’s going to take part in the first ever Veteran NFL Combine next month. Out of the league since the Dallas Cowboys cut him during the 2014 season, Sam made news by becoming the first openly gay football player drafted into the NFL during the 2014 draft.
Unable to make the Rams out of training camp, Sam was then signed to the Dallas Cowboys practice squad before they ultimately showed him the door.
Sam joins a laundry list of current and former NFL players to compete in the popular reality show. Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice are two of the biggest former stars to take to the dance stage.
