Fan flies banner over Levi’s Stadium calling for Jed York to ‘mutually part ways’ with 49ers

It’s no secret that San Francisco 49ers fans are upset with CEO Jed York, whom they blame for the team’s precipitous downfall in the past couple of seasons.

With that in mind, one longtime 49ers fan purchased a banner and paid to have it flown over Levi’s Stadium before Sunday’s game that called for York to “mutually part ways” with the franchise. Ryan Sakamoto of ninersfans.com had the scoop on this story. Conor McGuire started a Go Fund Me campaign to fund the project, raising $1,059. The cost to run six to eight times around the stadium ended up being $549.

The “mutually part ways” comment is a dig at the franchise, which used the same phrase to describe the decision to let head coach Jim Harbaugh go after the 2014 season.

Without Harbaugh guiding the ship, San Francisco’s season has gone down in flames. Heading into Week 12 the 49ers had a record of 3-7 and will be competing the rest of the way for the No. 1 overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft. It’s a far cry from what fans were hoping would be a potential Super Bowl appearance at none other than Levi’s Stadium this upcoming February.
