Peyton Manning was Keeping Torn Quad a Secret

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has been playing for the last month with a torn right quad.

Manning first injured his thigh in a win against the San Diego Chargers back in mid December. The injury came from a play where Manning rolled right to make a pass to wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders. After completing the 12-yard pass, Manning was seen in some flexing his leg, looking to be in some pain.

Sources report that the Broncos’ doctors knew of the injury and that “Manning did what he could to intentionally conceal the injury” from as many people possible.

Manning’s play over the last month has indeed showed signs of struggle. In a disappointing playoff loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Manning didn’t look like his earlier season self. Completing only 26-46 passes for 211 yards and a touchdown was not enough to compete with the Colts dominating game play. Sunday’s game had Manning posting his fourth-fewest yards for a playoff game.

The loss definitely has everyone wondering what Manning’s plans for the future will be. Manning had a few comments to share when he was confronted with the possibility of retirement.

My mindset right now is just disappointment after [Sunday’s] game. I’m disappointed, I kind of need to process this game, we’ll meet [Monday]. I’m disappointed I need to process this game.

Uh, yeah, I guess I just can’t give that simple answer. I’m processing it. I can’t say that. I could not say that.
