New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson underwent knee surgery to repair a torn right lateral meniscus and will miss six-to-eight weeks.

The Pelicans announced Williamson’s surgery on Monday.

Williamson was reportedly going to miss “a period of weeks” with the knee injury, and now we know that he could be out as much as two months.

The No. 1 overall pick out of Duke, Williamson’s NBA career is getting off to a rocky start, indeed.

The good news is that it’s not a major ligament, and that a torn meniscus is a relatively easy injury to recover from thanks to modern medicine.
