The New Orleans Pelicans will be without star Zion Williamson for Saturday’s game against the Indiana Pacers with a left ankle sprain.
Williamson, who entered Saturday as a game-time decision, will be sidelined as he now deals with an ankle sprain and a sprained toe. The Pelicans will also be without All-Star forward Brandon Ingram after he sprained his right ankle in Thursday’s game.
New Orleans is playing it safe with its two stars, especially given their injury history. Williamson missed 44 games this season with a knee injury and Ingram has dealt with multiple injuries throughout his career.
Williamson has been a star since making his debut on Jan. 22. The 19-year-old is averaging 19.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and two assists per game. He has scored 20-plus points in each of his past four contests.
Ingram, who became an All-Star for the first time this season, is averaging 24.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game this year. Both ankle sprains are considered minor, so they should return to the lineup next week.
