Purdue center Zach Edey headlines the Associated Press 2023-24 preseason All-America team, the only unanimous selection of the nation’s top players announced Monday.

Edey received all 60 votes to join Marquette guard Tyler Kolek, Kansas center Hunter Dickinson, Duke big man Kyle Filipowski and North Carolina forward Armando Bacot. Filipowski, just a sophomore, is the only underclassman to be selected.

Edey swept every major player of the year award in 2022-23 after a monster campaign of 22.3 points, 12.9 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game. However, the accolades were spoiled when Purdue lost to 16-seed Fairleigh Dickinson in the NCAA Tournament, becoming just the second No. 1 seed to lose in the first round since the field was expanded in 1985.

Dickinson is in a Kansas uniform this season after averaging 17.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game for Michigan the past three seasons.

Filipowski, the No. 2 center and No. 4 overall player in the 2022 class, spurned the NBA to return to Duke for a second season. He led the Blue Devils in points (15.1), rebounds (8.9) and steals (1.3). He was the Atlantic Coast Conference rookie of the year and an all-conference second-team selection.

Kolek is the defending Big East player of the year after averaging 12.9 points, 7.5 assists and 4.1 rebounds while shooting nearly 39.8 percent from 3-point range.

Bacot earned third-team All-America honors in 2022-23 after averaging 15.9 points and 10.4 rebounds while shooting 55.4 percent from the floor.
