Yu Darvish bullpen session didn’t go well, won’t pitch Saturday

The Chicago Cubs will have to wait a while longer to get high-priced free agency acquisition Yu Darvish back into the starting lineup.

Darvish has missed the past month due to right triceps tendinitis, but the team was hopeful he’d be able to start Saturday following a bullpen session Thursday.

“It’s still day by day,” Darvish said Wednesday, per MLB.com. “It just depends on how it feels tomorrow and we’ll go from there.”

Unfortunately, that session did not go well, according to Carrie Muskat of MLB.com.

In eight starts this year, Darvish has gone 1-3 with an ERA of 4.95, a 1.43 WHIP, having struck out 49 batters and walked 21 in 49 innings of work.
