The New York Yankees placed outfielder Joey Gallo and catcher Kyle Higashioka on the COVID-19 list prior to Sunday’s doubleheader against the visiting Chicago White Sox.

Both players tested positive for the virus, according to the club.

New York manager Aaron Boone said prior to the announcement that Gallo wasn’t feeling well.

According to reports, Gallo and Higashioka are both vaccinated.

Gallo, 28, has struggled all season and is batting .176 with five homers and seven RBIs in 35 games. Higashioka, 32, is batting just .154 with no homers and five RBIs in 24 games.

New York also transferred catcher Ben Rortvedt (knee) to the 60-day injured list, recalled right-hander David McKay from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and selected catcher Rob Brantly from the same Triple-A affiliate and signed him to the 40-man roster.
