After missing nearly three weeks with a left hip flexor strain, New York Yankees starting pitcher Domingo Germán is set to rejoin New York’s rotation next week.
Speaking to reporters in London on Saturday, Boone announced that New York will activate Germán when the club returns from the overseas trip and he’ll rejoin the rotation on Wednesday or Thursday.
Germán made a single rehab appearance for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, though it wasn’t his sharpest outing. Despite allowing six base runners and four runs in four innings, the Yankees saw enough to activate him off the injured list next week.
The 26-year-old has been very reliable for the Yankees this season with a 3.86 ERA and 1.11 WHIP across 70 innings. Germán’s command has been particularly sharp with a 77/19 K/BB ratio and it’s led to a 9-2 record in 13 games.
He’ll either face the New York Mets on Wednesday or the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday, depending on where New York decides to slide him back into the rotation.
