If the New York Yankees want to steal consecutive road games against the Houston Astros, they’ll have to do it without All-Star outfielder Giancarlo Stanton on Sunday.
New York is starting Cameron Maybin in Stanton’s place after he suffered the quadriceps injury while running to first base in Game 1.
Stanton was able to stay in the game on Saturday initially after the injury. He even hit a home run in the sixth inning to increase New York’s lead too 3-0.
Fortunately for New York, the team determined Stanton is day-to-day and his status for the remainder of the series isn’t in doubt. Maybin slashed .285/.364/.494 this season with 11 home runs in 239 at-bats.
