Seth Rollins has confirmed he expects to be out of action for several months after suffering a shoulder injury at the WWE Crown Jewel: Perth event. The injury forced him to vacate the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and he has reportedly already undergone surgery to repair the damage.
Rollins appeared on the Halloween edition of the NFL Network’s Good Morning Football with his arm in a sling, confirming the lengthy recovery time. A regular guest host on the show and a noted Chicago Bears fan, Rollins appeared in a bear costume and a Steve “Mongo” McMichael jersey.
He provided a clear timeline for his absence. “I wish, I wish I could rip this thing off,” Rollins said, referring to the sling. “But I’m out, guy. I’m out of action for six months.”
Rollins also expressed his displeasure at having to vacate his title, which will be decided this weekend at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. “My World Championship is going to be worn by some schmuck, either Jey Uso or CM Punk. It’s awful. It really is the Halloween scaries, guys.”
Fallout Out From Seth Rollins’ Injury
The match between Jey Uso and CM Punk at the November 1 special was a change from the original plan. Before his injury, Rollins was scheduled to defend the championship against Punk at the event. To earn his spot in the vacant title match, Jey Uso won a battle royal on the October 20 episode of Monday Night Raw.
When Rollins is cleared to return, he will likely have his sights set on regaining the World Heavyweight Championship. He also has a built-in feud waiting for him with his former faction, The Vision. WWE’s storyline explanation for his absence was an angle in which his stablemates, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, betrayed him and left him laid out in the ring.
As Rollins begins his six-month recovery, the men who (in kayfabe) injured him are being positioned as dominant forces on Raw. Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, now aligned with Paul Heyman, were intentionally kept out of the battle royal to determine the new champion.
Reports indicate this was to protect Breakker, who is expected to become champion at a later, more significant event, rather than having him lose in the battle royal or on a Peacock-exclusive show. This past Monday on Raw, Bron Breakker defeated LA Knight after interference from his faction members.
