WWE is reportedly positioning former NXT Champion Oba Femi for a massive main roster run, with senior officials viewing him as the standout prospect among a talented new class of call-ups that includes Trick Williams and Je’Von Evans.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that those in “high places” within WWE believe Femi—often referred to as “The Ruler”—is destined to be the “biggest major player of all.”
Femi’s final appearance for the NXT brand took place at New Year’s Evil on January 6, where he successfully defended the NXT Championship against TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater.
Following the victory, Femi made the shocking decision to vacate the title by leaving it in the center of the ring, signaling the end of his dominant tenure in developmental. Reports indicate this move was specifically requested by main roster creative to ensure Femi did not suffer a loss before his official debut.
Current internal plans suggest that Femi is earmarked for the Monday Night Raw brand, where he is expected to debut “near the top of the card.” Beyond his initial arrival, there is already a creative pitch for Femi to be featured prominently during the weekend of WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.
Some bold predictions even suggest Femi could be a candidate to retire Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam later this year, drawing parallels to Lesnar’s own rocket-like ascent to the top of the industry in the early 2000s.
