A new report suggests that recent rumors about certain stars from AEW and TNA joining WWE in the new year are not happening.
With the wrestling industry as strong as it has been in a long time, it is a good era to be a professional wrestler. The main reason being there are many good options to have a lucrative career in the industry. WWE is a billion-dollar juggernaut. AEW is a strong No. 2 option, handing out million-dollar deals. Plus, TNA just got even stronger after securing a new TV deal with AMC.
Furthermore, NJPW, CMLL, AAA, MLW, and HOG remain viable options in the second tier of notable promotions around the world. It gives performers more leverage and the ability to jump to the highest bidder when their contract expires.
In recent months, there have been various reports about soon-to-be free agents in AEW and TNA heading to WWE. Stars such as Private Party and Danhausen. However, that may no longer be the case. According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer, WWE has told interested wrestlers from outside the company that they are not looking to sign new talent at the moment.
“We were told that, of late, talent from both TNA and AEW who have called WWE have been told that they aren’t looking at hiring new people,” he reports. “The idea is that they have so many in developmental, many of whom are ready, that they don’t need new people.
“This is not an absolute, and obviously, guys like the level of [Chris] Jericho or [Leon] Slater wouldn’t necessarily fall into that category.”
The report is certainly bad news for fans hoping to see stars like Private Party or Danhausen pop up on WWE TV in 2026.
