Some new updates have emerged following Danhausen’s mixed reception after his WWE debut at the Elimination Chamber.
One of the intriguing storylines heading into Saturday’s event was what was in the mysterious box that was delivered to WWE RAW two weeks ago. The crate had a note stating that it was not to be opened until the Elimination Chamber. That created a huge amount of speculation about who or what was in it.
While many fans hoped it would be returning Chris Jericho, as we got closer to the event, most reports pointed to AEW alum Danhausen being in the crate. When the box was cracked opened and it was, in fact, Danhausen inside, he unfortunately received a cold welcome from WWE fans in Chicago.
Danhausen has signed a multi-year deal with WWE
Thoughts on social media have been mixed, and the fact that AEW held him in a contract for a year but didn’t use him certainly didn’t help. Furthermore, it seems there was also a divide inside the company on whether to sign him or not, according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer.
“People pushed for him, [but] there were people who didn’t want him,” Meltzer said after the event. “This was not a unanimous decision or anything like that. I would guess that the people who didn’t want him are thinking that, ‘Hmm, sure didn’t work out so well this time.’
“But time will tell. He’ll get another chance. Maybe he’ll be The Gobbledy Gooker, and maybe he’ll be R-Truth.”
Many chances are something the comedic wrestlers will get because, according to BodySlam.net, Danhausen has signed a multi-year contract with WWE. Furthermore, the outlet claims those in favor of adding him wanted to bring him all the way in July, but AEW extended his contract despite his request not to.
