Kendal Grey is well on her way to becoming one of those names that people in WWE are starting to speculate about. And as Dave Meltzer puts it, the company really shouldn’t be putting this off and should be giving her more of a spotlight sooner rather than later.

After barely over a year in the system, Grey has already made a strong impression. As it happens, she has a pretty impressive background. She was a 3-time NAIA wrestling national champion at Life University back in the day (as Peyton Prussin), before signing with WWE in 2023.

She popped up in March this year and has been putting in some seriously standout performances both on NXT and the revamped Evolve brand. Just last month, she beat Kali Armstrong to take the Evolve Women’s Championship . That was the first title change the brand has ever had. Which is quite the achievement for someone who’s only just turned 24.

“She is great. She should get a big, big push. She should be on the main roster, and she should be doing something on the main roster now. Not when she’s 30. Now. Kendal’s a great athlete. And she’s just got it,” said Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio

Why WWE shouldn’t wait long to promote Kendal Grey

It’s worth noting that Meltzer’s idea hits home. WWE sometimes leaves its best prospects hanging a bit too long in NXT. Grey’s got the athleticism, the ring flair, and the confidence, so she checks off all the boxes.

She’s also got that legit wrestling background which gives her matches an edge, but she’s also one of those people who’s got natural charisma coming out of her pores. That’s what it means to have “it”.

And there’s also something to be said for timing. Sure, the women’s division is currently stacked with talent, but the thing is — these opportunities are few and far between, and they are only open for so long.

Grey is in a great place at the moment. She has a title and free rein to really make a difference. The only risk is if WWE slows it for a few years, you could risk her losing that momentum.

If WWE can pull it and put together a solid storyline, a good first feud that allows for a character to come through on TV, assuming they actually want her to get over, she could be the breakout star of the company and slip onto either Raw or SmackDown, and stand out right from the get-go.
