A new report claims that WCW legend and AAA creative team member, Konnan, is dealing with serious health issues that led to one of his legs being amputated this week.

There have been rumors over the last week that the one-time member of the nWo and nWo Wolfpac has not been in good health. There were even some rumblings that Carlos Santiago Espada, AKA Konnan, had actually passed away. Well, that speculation isn’t true, but the Lucha Libre legend’s health is in a bad place.

“For some time now, the Triple A star has been dealing with health problems that have left him in a delicate state in San Diego, United States,” Record Mexico reporter El Planchitas reported on Friday night. Furthermore, the report claims that Konnan has had one of his legs amputated due to the severity of his current ailments.

The Herald Mexico has also suggested in a report on the news that Konnan is not in the clear, and amputating his other leg is still a possibility.

Konnan currently serves as a key member of AAA’s creative team, and has been a part of it well before WWE’s purchase of the brand last year.

The 62-year-old is well known by North American fans as a beloved member of the original nWo and then nWo Wolfpac during the Monday night wars. Winning the United States, TV, and tag team titles. He was also in a faction with long-time pal Rey Mysterio, nicknamed the Filthy Animals.

Before he became a household name for his tenure in WCW, Konnan was a massive star in Mexico. Winning CMLL’s top championship before he would eventually make the jump to AAA after it was first founded in the early 1990s, and headlining their first Triplemania event.

He never signed a long-term deal with WWE, even after WCW was purchased by their top rival in 2001. He retired from full-time wrestling in 2007.
